ST. GEORGE, S.C. - Prosecutors says they’ll seek a death sentence if a man is convicted of killing a mother and her two children in Dorchester County last year.

Officials filed a formal notice Wednesday that they would seek a death sentence for Anthony Sanders.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that officials have not explained a motive for the slayings.

The death penalty notice states the aggravating circumstances in the crimes were criminal sexual conduct and burglary.

Sanders said little during the two-minute hearing before Circuit Judge Paul Birch.

Sanders is accused of shooting 44-year-old Diane R. Grant, her 20-year-old son, Jatavious DeVore and her 14-year-old daughter, DeAnna DeVore, at an apartment complex July 10, 2007.

Sanders’ relationship with the victims was unclear.
