GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Furman Paladins will play Auburn in football in 2009, athletics director Dr. Gary Clark announced on Wednesday.

Scheduled for Nov. 7 at Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium, the game will mark the fourth meeting between the two schools but first since 1956. Auburn leads the series 3-0.

Furman’s last clash against a Southeastern Conference opponent was against Vanderbilt in 2002. Furman, which posted a 6-5 record a year ago, will take on Virginia Tech Sept. 6 this year. The Paladins are scheduled to play the University South Carolina in 2010 and the University of Florida in 2011.

Also announced Wednesday was the scheduling of four more Furman football games on this fall, giving the Paladins a total of six telecasts tor the 2008 campaign.

Furman’s Aug. 30 season opener against Mars Hill will be televised by Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS). CSS will also air Furman contests against Chattanooga (Sept. 27) and Wofford (Nov. 20). In addition, Colgate has announced that its clash with Furman (Sept. 13) will be televised by Time Warner Sports of Central New York, but plans to carry the contest in the Upstate have yet to be determined.

It was previously announced that two Paladin games will be televised by SportSouth, including clashes against Samford (Nov. 1) and Georgia Southern (Nov. 15).
