Apple new chairman of Central S.C. Alliance

Jim B. Apple, chairman and chief executive officer of First Citizens Bank of South Carolina, will serve as Central South Carolina Alliance chairman of the board for 2008-09.

Apple is the successor of Chairman George J. Bullwinkel Jr., who will remain on the Central SC Alliance Board as a director.

Michael Wolfe, president of Orangeburg-based Community Resource Bank, will serve another three-year term from 2008-2011.

New Alliance officers elected for 2008-09 include:

* Vice chairman – William C. Derrick

* Funding and finance chair – James E. Hazel

* Development chair – George J. Bullwinkel Jr.

New board members elected for three-year terms are Pamela P. Lackey, AT&T; John McAllister Jr., John McAllister Realty Consulting, and Athena J. Leventis, Bank of America.

Board members elected to serve another three-year term are James E. Hazel, Elliott Davis & Company, LLC, and J. Thomas Johnson, First Community Bank.

Established in 1994, the Central South Carolina Alliance has worked directly with companies investing more than $6.9 billion and creating more than 45,000 new jobs. The mission of the organization is to encourage, enhance and foster economic development in Central South Carolina.

The alliance serves Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, McCormick, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and Sumter counties.
