SUMMERTON -- The 16th annual Women's Outdoor Recreation Retreat, a multi-faceted opportunity to challenge the "woman within you," will be held Friday through Sunday, Sept. 5-7, at Camp Bob Cooper near Summerton.

Nature hikes, kayaking, birding, canoeing, fishing and more outdoor adventures can be enjoyed in the company of like-minded women in a non-competitive environment. Lake Marion and the surrounding resources of the Santee Cooper area provide the backdrop for this event.

The retreat, sponsored by the South Carolina Wildlife Federation in cooperation with several outfitters and organizations, is open to women 16 years of age and older. Cost is $75 per person, and registration should be received by Aug. 25. Individuals whose forms are received after that date will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Meal plans and overnight accommodations are available. Programs will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, and conclude at noon Sunday, Sept. 7.

Participants will be assigned to as many of their choices as possible -- a minimum of six and up to eight workshops. Most classes last approximately one hour and 45 minutes. A confirmation letter and class schedule will be sent a week prior to the retreat. Schedule changes can be made upon arrival at Camp Bob Cooper.

To register, send a completed form and check to: South Carolina Wildlife Federation, Women's Retreat, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 101, Columbia, SC 29204.

For more information, call the South Carolina Wildlife Federation at 803-256-0670, Adventure Carolina at 803-796-4505 or e-mail at sara@scwf.org.
