Adrienne C. Webber has been named Dean of Library and Information Services at South Carolina State University.

She assumed the position on Aug. 1.

“The Miller F. Whittaker Library is mission-driven, goal-obtaining and objective-achieving. It is no accident that the library is in the center of campus and I plan to strengthen, enhance and promote the library while using creative components,” Webber said.

Webber plans to modify existing programs and focus on non-traditional fund-raising for the library.

She received her undergraduate degree from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, La. and her master’s degree from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta.

Prior to coming to S.C. State, Webber served as an assistant director for access services at Xavier University.

“My vision for the library is to make it more appealing to students, so that they will continue to be lifelong learners,” Webber said.
