Taking a break from competition in the inaugural Trinidad and Tobago Hoops Classic, the Claflin Panthers visited a small recreation center in the foothills of the Trinidad mountains to teach basketball fundamentals to 6-12 year-olds in the island nation.

On the strength of their HBCU-best 24-2 record last season, the Panthers (including Preston Johnson of Denmark, S.C.) were invited to compete in the Trinidad tournament, Aug. 12-16.

This week, the Panthers’ exploits may be followed via a blog, Claflin 2 Trinidad.

Several new blog posts, including video from a recruitment reception, were posted to the blog Thursday afternoon. As the tournament progresses, additional posts and video will be added.

For additional information, contact Jason Darby at (803) 535-5751 or jdarby@claflin.edu and Vivian Glover at (803) 535-5668 or vglover@claflin.edu.
