Two men wanted for entering couple's motel room, threatening them with gun
Sunday, August 17, 2008BAMBERG – Warrants were issued on two Bamberg men following an altercation authorities believe was drug related at Ziggy’s Motel on U.S. 301 in Bamberg.
Charges of armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping stemmed from a 2 a.m. incident on July 25 in which three men entered the room occupied by an 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, both of Bamberg. Two of the perpetrators were known to the victims, according to the Bamberg Police Department incident report.
The victims said the men entered their room and one pulled out a “big black gun,” the report stated. The men demanded drugs and money while threatening the couple, it was reported.
Police issued warrants against Ruben Narvene Folk of 2259 Binnicker Bridge Road and Barris Williams of 77 McMillian Street in the case.
In other cases:
* Officers on Aug. 3 responded to a Price Street residence where a woman was complaining she was not being allowed to retrieve her dogs. The dogs in question were an adult pit bull and two puppies.
The resident of the house and the woman who had come to get her dogs gave conflicting stories, according to the incident report, and one woman punched the other during the ordeal. Charges of assault and battery and refusal to return animals (dogs) were levied against the Price Street woman.
* Police arrested a Cox Avenue woman on a charge of disorderly conduct on July 25.
* An Orange Grove Road woman was charged with shoplifting after she allegedly walked out of the Family Dollar on July 24 with a shirt valued at $4.42.
* A Charleston-Augusta Road man was arrested for shoplifting bug spray from the E-Z Shop No. 3 on Aug. 5.
* Police on July 31 stopped a Bamberg woman for driving under suspension and operating an uninsured vehicle.
* Police arrested a Cox Avenue man for third-offense driving under suspension on Aug. 8 .
* A Rowesville man was arrested on July 27 for second-offense DUS and open container.
