Kids OK after school bus hit
By T&D StaffTuesday, August 19, 2008ELLOREE, S.C. - An Elloree man is facing a charge after a vehicle crashed into the back of a stopped school bus Tuesday afternoon.
Neither the driver nor any of the 25 students on board were injured, S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Trevor Clinton said.
Clinton said that at about around 3:30 p.m., a school bus was stopped about two miles east of Elloree on Highway 6. As several children exited the bus, a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am struck the rear of the 1995 Thomas-brand bus.
Clinton said the Pontiac was being driven by 34-year-old Luckas Quintero. He is facing a charge of driving too fast for conditions.
Olar Williams of Elloree was operating the bus. Clinton said the safety equipment, including the lights and safety bar, were in use when the bus was hit.
