DENMARK, S.C. – Dr. Carl Carpenter has been named the new executive vice president of academic affairs at Voorhees College in Denmark.
“I have always been a proponent of academic excellence. It is important for Voorhees to continually prepare students by offering more majors and enhancing faculty productivity through teaching, research and community service,” Carpenter said.
A 30-year veteran of higher education, Carpenter has served in a variety of roles including interim president of South Carolina State University. He also worked in administrative and faculty roles at Fort Valley State University and Claflin University.
As executive vice president, Carpenter will work directly with Voorhees President Dr. Cleveland Sellers on advancing the quality of the college’s academic programs.
“Voorhees College is fortunate to attract an expert with a history of accomplishments in academia,” Sellers said. “Our students will benefit immensely from Dr. Carpenter’s leadership over our academic programs.”
Carpenter earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from South Carolina State University and a doctorate in education from the University of South Carolina.

The man had a great run at SCSU, retired and decided to continue in education.
He's not the 1st SCSU educator/administrator to do so and in great probability won't be the last!
If that's a Bendict Arnold, I sure hope SC had many more like him!!!
