Woman says man tried to enter her home

A Maxwell Place woman called to report a suspicious character wanting to gain entry into her home Monday.

The woman said that a 45- to 50-year-old black male came to her home identifying himself as “Bernard.” The man asked if the woman’s mother was home. The man then asked to see the woman’s flooring, saying he had done the work and wanted to see the floors.

The woman called her landlords, who said they did not know a “Bernard.”

With her home having recently been burglarized, the woman was concerned about the subject.

Deputies placed the area on special patrol.
