S.C. High School League

Wade Hampton and Allendale-Fairfax 7:30 p.m.

Last year’s result − Won by A-F 18-0

ALLENDALE − The Tigers begin the post-Lennell Elmore era at home looking to post a third straight 10-win season. More important, A-F once again has championship aspirations in Class A despite losing 13 seniors. The Red Devils return four starters on the offensive line but have questions at the skill positions.

Academic Magnet at Bethune-Bowman 7:30 p.m.

Last year’s result − Won by Academic Magnet via forfeit.

ROWESVILLE − Just two days after the S.C. High School League ended their one-year probation, the Mohawks have a chance to put the past further to rest against a former Region 6-A rival. Ironically, the Raptors earned the victory and a playoff berth at Bethune-Bowman’s expense.

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler (0-1) at Edisto (0-1) 7:30 p.m.

The two teams did not play last season.

CORDOVA − A pair of teams looking to rebound from “Week Zero” losses as well as get their offenses on track. This is the first meeting in seven years between the two Orangeburg Consolidated District 4 schools, with Edisto having won 16 straight in the series dating back to 1981.

Lake Marion at Calhoun County 7:30 p.m.

Last year’s result − Won by Calhoun County 56-27

ST. MATTHEWS -- The Saints have won all four meetings in the series against the Gators, outscoring them 131-52. Look for Calhoun County to air it out with quarterback David Sims and wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey, while the Gators counter with an experienced defense led by linebacker Marcellus Tilly. When the Gators have the ball, expect a heavy dose of speedy tailback Nick Williams.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt (1-0) at Ashley Ridge (0-1) 7:30 p.m.

First-ever meeting between the two schools.

SUMMERVILLE − It was all about good ol’ fashioned “Smash Mouth” football last week for the Red Raiders. Relying on its backfield of Anquan Thomas and Demetrius Williams and a stifling defense, B-E overcame the elements and Edisto to post a 7-0 victory. This week, they face Class 2-A newcomer Ashley Ridge, which dropped its inaugural game to Johnsonville 27-6.

North at Branchville 7:30 p.m.

The two teams did not meet last season.

BRANCHVILLE -- It’s a new era for both the Eagles under new head coach Ernest Logan and the Yellow Jackets, who are making their revival after a nine-year hiatus. North brings a wide-open spread attack with quarterback Tremaine McMillan and running back Troy McFadden, while Branchville will counter with the Wing-T attack led by big fullback Tim White.

Swansea at Pelion 7:30 p.m.

Last year’s result − Won by Pelion 21-12

PELION − The rivalry is renewed as the Tigers and Panthers once again battle for bragging rights in Lexington County. Pelion senior Sean Davis will try to duplicate his 2,130 yards and 27 touchdowns of a year ago without college-bound offensive lineman Erik Mobley and Dalton Freeman, while Swansea is counting on new assistant coaching hires Blair Hrovat and Tim Smith to produce the first winning season since 2003.

Williston-Elko at Barnwell (1-0) 7:30 p.m.

Last year’s result − Won by Barnwell 18-15.

BARNWELL − The annual “round-round” of games between Barnwell County’s three high school teams starts tonight. The Blue Devils will look to build on last year’s strong finish, while the Warhorses look to build on last week’s victory over Hunter-Kinard-Tyler.

SCISA

Andrew Jackson Academy (1-0) at Faith Christian 7:30 p.m.

The two teams did not meet last season.

SUMMERVILLE − The Confederates showed why they were the preseason top-ranked team in SCISA 8-man. Led by Chris Long’s 133 rushing yards and three touchdowns, AJA downed rival Bowman Academy last week.

Bowman Academy (0-1) at St. Paul’s Academy 7:30 p.m.

Last year’s result − Won by Bowman Academy 68-0

HOLLYWOOD − The Bulldogs have the right opponent to face in a rebound game. The Razorbacks not only were winless last season (0-11), they have lost 25 consecutive games over the past three seasons.

Clarendon Hall (0-1) at The King’s Academy (0-1) 7:30 p.m.

Last year’s result − Won by Clarendon Hall 50-6

FLORENCE − Both the Saints and Lions received a rude awakening to 11-man football in lopsided losses to Dillon Christian School to Florence Christian last week.

Dorchester Academy (0-1) at First Baptist 7:30 p.m.

The two teams did not play last season.

CHARLESTON − The Raiders looked to start the season off in better fashion, only to get shut out by defending SCISA Class 2-A champion Hilton Head Prep, 9-0. The Hurricanes have a new starting quarterback in Jarvis Kershaw and experience in the backfield with Harrison Greer and Robby Kicklighter.

Jefferson Davis Academy at Abundant Life 7:30 p.m.

The two teams did not meet last season.

HARDEEVILLE − It’s the third go-round for Raider head coach Joey Lott, who’s two years removed from leading JDA to its last 8-man title.

Holly Hill Academy (1-0) at Calhoun Academy 8 p.m.

The two teams did not meet last season.

ST. MATTHEWS − It’s a meeting of old friends as Raider head coach Don Shelley and the Cavaliers’ Adam Jarecki renew acquaintances. HHA enters the contest with The T&D Region’s longest winning streak at 14 straight and made a strong debut in its 11-man debut against Patrick Henry. The Cavaliers counter with Elite 11 quarterback Andrew Robinson, running back/wide receiver Trez Wienges and an experienced offensive line.

Orangeburg Prep (0-1) at Thomas Heyward Academy 7:30 p.m.

Last year’s result − Won by Thomas Heyward Academy 30-21

RIDGELAND − It was truly a three-part tale for the Indians last week against Augusta Christian. After falling behind 28-7, OPS rallied to within a single point behind quarterback Thomas Plumb (12 of 22 passing for 223 yards and three TDs), only to come up short 42-27. The Rebels were hit hard by graduation but return quarterback J.A. Malphrus (27 of 54 passing, 364 yards and nine touchdowns last season)
