Orangeburg County

Sheriff’s Office

Investigators are tracking down a suspicious character discovered in an industry’s parking lot on Tuesday, according to an OCSO incident report.

A man said that around 5:20 p.m., he noticed a male underneath a late model Toyota Tundra parked at Koyo on U.S, Highway 601. As the man approached, the subject crawled from underneath the vehicle carrying a catalytic converter, the report said. The subject then sped away in a Chevrolet Blazer.

The man then called deputies, who searched the area but did not locate anyone.

However, the man gave deputies the license plate number for the subject’s vehicle. It came back to a Chevrolet Blazer registered to an Orangeburg man.

In other reports:

A Southland Road business had a visitor on its property late Tuesday, according to an incident report.

A man at Palmetto Manufacturing told deputies that around 11:30 p.m., he spotted a woman in dark clothing crawling through a gap in a fence. The man yelled at her, “Hey, what are you doing?” according to the report.

The woman then crawled back through the gap and fled.

A Rowesville man told deputies Tuesday evening that he was accosted by a drunken neighbor, according to an OCSO incident report.

The man said that around 9 p.m., he noticed his neighbor in his yard drinking beer he had purchased earlier in the day. The man claimed that when he confronted his neighbor, he was rewarded with a sock in the face.

The man told deputies he didn’t want to press charges. He simply wanted his tooth replaced, the report indicates.

Deputies advised the man of the process.
