VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Willie Carter, a T&D Elite 11 player and All-Area first-team selection a season ago for Denmark-Olar High School, earned MEAC co-Rookie of the Week honors Monday.

Carter, a wide receiver for Howard, caught four passes for 23 yards and a touchdown. His score resulted in the only points in the first half of his team’s loss to Georgetown.

South Carolina State offnesive lineman Johnny Culbreath was named the offensive lineman of the week after helping pave the way for 412 total offensive yars, including 188 on the ground against Benedict. Culbreath had five pancake blocks, three knockdown blocks and seven cuts in SCSU’s 44-3 win.

SCSU’s Devonne Quattlebaum was cited for his performance as well after he had eight solo tackles, two for loss, and Will Ford was cited after carrying 23 times for 123 yards and three touchdowns and catching two passes for 23 yards in the Bulldogs’ win.
