HOPKINS -- Jayson Leverett had 350 total yards to lead O-W past Lower Richland.
Leverett had an 80-yard touchdown run and finished with 120 yards on the ground. Through the air, the O-W quarterback passed for 230 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown pass.
Defensively, Mitchell Simmons and Kevin Walker each had an interception for the Bruins and Zayvan Pam had 3.5 sacks.
“We are blessed man,” O-W head coach Tommy Brown said. “We found a way to win which is a good thing because after you have been down for so many years it is important for you to learn and develop ways to win. These young men have worked to be successful, and the credit goes to them. They want to win and they are finding ways to win.”
O-W (3-0) hosts Lake Marion Friday.
Heathwood Hall 42, OPS 37
COLUMBIA -- Ryan Salley was dropped on the 4-yard line going in on fourth down late in the fourth quarter to end the Indians hope of victory Friday night.
Thomas Plumb led the Indians on offense, going 10 of 14 passing for 214 yards with three touchdowns. He also rushed for 89 yards on 20 carries.
A.J. Andrews was Plumb’s primary target, hauling in four passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns; Salley finished with four catches for 64 yards and a touchdown, and Chris Williams led the Indians in rushing with 90 yards on 16 carries.
Mac Whalen finished with 14 rushes for 77 yards and two touchdowns, and was 21 of 30 passing for 297 yards and two more touchdowns to lead Heathwood.
OPS (1-3) hosts Pinewood Prep Friday.
Blackville-Hilda 42, Allendale-Fairfax 14
ALLENDALE -- Joe Thomas had 20 carries for 167 yards and four touchdowns to lead Blackville.
Dustin Beasley added a 3-yard scoring run for the Hawks, and Jamell Dukes had nine carries for 72 yards and a 15-yard touchdown run.
Eldon Kennedy had a safety on defense for B-H.
Darius Priester put Allendale-Fairfax (1-2) on the board with a 2-yard run, and Bashaud Breland scored on the two-point conversion in the third quarter. LeAndre McKinnon caught a 31-yard scoring pass from Breland later in the second half.
B-H (3-0) travels to Wagner-Salley Friday to begin region play.
Bamberg-Erhhardt 20, Barnwell 14
BAMBERG -- Carl Williams returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter for the deciding score.
Anquan Thomas had a 7-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, and Randon Sandifer added two field goals for Bamberg-Ehrhardt.
B-E (3-0) hosts Branchville next week.
Lake Marion 26, Cross 6SANTEE -- Nicholas Williams had 108 rushing yards, 77 receiving yards and two touchdowns to lead Lake Marion to the win.
Desmond Morton added 88 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Gators and Marcellus Tilly had 13 tackles.
Lake Marion (1-2) travels to O-W next week.
Calhoun Academy 35, Florence Christian 7
FLORENCE -- Calhoun Academy scored all 35 of its points in the first half.
Andrew Robinson got things underway in the first quarter with a 1-yard run. Jake King added the extra point and the Cavaliers were up 7-0 with 7:40 to go.
Bryan Love then scored on a 3-yard run with 1:43 to play in the quarter, and after King’s kick the Cavaliers led 14-0.
In the second quarter, Taylor Culler hauled in a 10-yard touchdown pass from Robinson to up help up the lead to 21-0 at the 7:49 mark. Trez Wienges then scored on a 2-yard run with 1:41 to go in the first half, and Jimmy Reed caught a 24-yard scoring pass to close out the scoring for CA. Florence Christian’s only score came in the fourth quarter.
Robinson was 7 of 11 passing for 140 yards and two touchdowns for Calhoun. Reed finished with four catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. Wienges led the Cavaliers in rushing with 102 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries; Bryan Love finished with 62 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
Defensively, Jordan Rucker led the way with nine tackles; Caleb Chappell finished with eight and Wienges had an interception.
Calhoun Academy (3-0) travels to Winnsboro to take on Richard Winn Friday.
Edisto 38, Branchville 0
CORDOVA -- The Cougars scored all 38 of their points in the first half.
Kamrie Connell led the way with 45 yards and a touchdown on four carries and completed 11 passes for 58 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler Davis had three receptions for 27 yards and a score for the Cougars, and Ruben Thomas had a 19-yard touchdown catch. Johnny Moorer led the Cougars on the ground with 57 yards and a touchdown on two carries, and Derrick Jenkins had three carries for 42 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, LeGrande Thomas had four tackles, and Chris Goodwin had three sacks.
Edisto (2-2) has a bye next week.
AJA 48, JDA 14
BLACKVILLE -- Chris Long had 15 carries for 169 yards and four touchdowns to lead Andrew Jackson.
Edward Givens added 49 yards on six carries; Cody Smith had three carries for 59 yards and returned an interception for a touchdown. John Avant had 11.5 tackles on defense.
AJA (3-1) hosts Bowman Academy next week.
Bowman Academy 36, Faith Christian 32
BOWMAN -- Raysor Griffith’s boys survived a shootout, coming from 10-points down in the fourth quarter to get the win.
“They haven’t quit on me yet this year,” Griffith said. “We are not in the best in the world, but it seems like they are gamers on Friday for some reason.”
The Bulldogs trailed by 10 with 11 minutes to play, but Jordan Gunnells threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Matthew Ulmer, and Jake Berry followed that up with a 4-yard scoring run with less than two minutes to play to put Bowman up for good.
Blake Keitt got the scoring started for the Bulldogs, recovering a fumble and returning it 94 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.
Faith Christian rebounded to go up 14-8 before Berry scored on a 1-yard run and Gunnells scored on a two-point conversion run to put BA up 16-14 at the half.
Bowman Academy (3-1) travels to Andrew Jackson Academy Friday.
