DHEC accepting All-Health Team award applications
Saturday, September 20, 2008COLUMBIA -- The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control's All-Health Team is currently accepting applications for its 2008-2009 season.
"The All-Health Team provides a great opportunity for young people to be recognized for promoting health and wellness in their school and community," said Joann Moton Minder, the All-Health Team's program manager. "Their involvement in health and wellness increases the likelihood of them carrying these practices into adulthood."
"With the many concerns about the health of our youth, and South Carolina citizens, in general, a program like this is very important," Minder added. "The All-Health Team provides young people with an opportunity to talk about health and wellness and take an active role in their health."
Minder said a new, more efficient application process is now available on DHEC's Web site, http://www.scdhec.gov/allhealth.
"Applications should be received by the first of each month to be considered during that month," she said. "Applications received after the first will be considered for the following month."
Monthly winners are awarded $500 to expand their project, All-Health Team promotional items, a prominent position on the All-Health Team Web site and a promotional spot about the project is shown on WIS-TV.
All-Health Team was established in 2003. It is a public-private partnership between DHEC and WIS-TV. For more information about how you can become a part of the All-Health Team, call 803-545-4501 or visit http://www.scdhec.gov/allhealth.
