Fright Night Lights: T&D Region Reports

Allendale-Fairfax 44, Bethune-Bowman 30

ROWESVILLE -- Glynn Darby was disappointed and proud all at the same time.

His Mohawks led Allendale-Fairfax (2-2) late in Friday’s game, 30-28, but the Tigers got touchdowns from LeAndre McKinnon and Darius Priester to pull out the win.

In a game filled with big stats, Allendale tailback Jerrell Priester led the way, rushing for 242 yards and three touchdowns. Danny Berry led Bethune-Bowman (1-2) with 192 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 12 carries. Craig Jones added 175 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 12 carries for the Mohawks.

Defensively, Ashton Robinson had 10 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery for Bethune-Bowman; Rondre Ritter had 11 tackles and a sack, Dennis Perry had 12 tackles and a sack and Josh Matthews had five tackles and a sack.

Calhoun County 42, Estill 6

ST. MATTHEWS -- David Sims carried 16 times for 201 yards and was 10 of 20 passing for 169 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Saints.

Alshon Jeffery had three catches for 32 yards and two touchdowns, and Jermaine Bull had 69 receiving yards and a touchdown and another 40 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Thomas added three catches for 42 yards and a touchdown for the Saints and hauled in three two-point conversion receptions.

Tajh Cheeseboro had 18 tackles on defense for CC; Brandon Golston had nine tackles and a sack, giving him 12 on the season. Darren Williams added eight tackles and two sacks for CC while Jared Fredrick had 10 tackles and an interception return for a touchdown, and James Williams had nine tackles and an interception return for a touchdown.

CC (4-0) hosts Allendale-Fairfax Friday.

Blackville-Hilda 40, Wagener-Salley 0

WAGENER -- Joe Thomas rushed for 255 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries, all in the first half, to lead the Hawks to victory.

Thomas had touchdown runs of 90 and 65 yards.

Ronnie Thomas had two touchdown runs for B-H, and Larry Smith added a 20-yard touchdown run. Hawks’ quarterback Chris Kearse was 3 of 3 passing 63 yards and a touchdown.

Blackville-Hilda (4-0, 1-0) hosts North next week.

Woodland 44, Bluffton 21

BYRDS -- Nagui Wright scored three touchdowns to lead the Wolverines to the win, their second in five days.

Bluffton took a 7-0 lead early, but Woodland responded with a 20-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Robert Smith to receiver Marquise Carson in the second quarter. Martin Connelly then passed to Gabriel Brown for the two-point conversion to make it 8-7 Woodland heading into the half.

In the second half, Dondrell Folk returned the opening kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown to put Woodland up 14-7. Bluffton then went up 15-14 before Wright scored on a 3-yard run and added the two-point conversion to put Woodland up 22-15.

Wright then opened the fourth quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run to make it 28-15, and Kijuan Edwards intercepted a pass and returned it 22 yards for a touchdown before Wright closed out Woodland’s scoring with a 24-yard touchdown run.

Wolverines quarterback Robert Smith finished 17 of 23 passing for 155 yards. Woodland (3-1) takes on Hanahan Friday.

Baptist Hill 18, Denmark-Olar 13

HOLLYWOOD -- Denmark-Olar came up short after battling back from a 12-0 first quarter deficit.

Anthony Holman scored on a 4-yard run for the Vikings and freshman tailback Darren Washington, who rushed for 71 yards on 13 carries, added D-O’s other score.

Holman finished 13 of 30 passing for 187 yards and rushed 16 times for 86 yards. Treaver Workman had six catches for 74 yards for D-O.

Denmark-Olar (1-3) takes on Bethune-Bowman Friday.

Williston-Elko 61, North 6

NORTH -- The Eagles season-opening win streak came to a crushing end Friday.

“I told the kids, it had been a rough week altogether,” North head coach Ernest Logan said. “We lost ‘Track’ (Terry McFadden), and we thought he might have tore his ACL earlier in the week. Then we had another kid who’s uncle died the next day and a couple kids missing. I think we might have practiced with 16 on a good day.”

McFadden was cleared to play, but Logan held him out. North’s only score came on a second quarter, 6-yard pass from quarterback Tremaine McMillan to receiver Freddie Martino.

North (3-1) travels to Blackville-Hilda next week.

Holly Hill Academy 39, Cathedral Academy 6

CHARLESTON -- Nick Martin carried 14 times for 212 yards and two touchdowns and caught another touchdown to lead HHA to the win.

Tyler James also had a 10-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Zack Brownlee in the second quarter, and Brownlee threw another touchdown, a 9-yard pass, to Martin in the second.

John Flynn and Alexander Way also added touchdowns for the Raiders.

Defensively, John Tweed, Flynn and Martin each had seven tackles.

HHA (2-3) hosts Charleston Collegiate Friday.

AJA 36, Bowman Academy 16

EHRHARDT -- Mac Mathias rushed 13 times for 113 yards and a touchdown to lead Andrew Jackson to victory.

Edward Givens went 12 of 16 passing for 166 yards and a touchdwon for the Confederates. On defense, Chandler Hudson led AJA with nine tackles and Ryan Fender had eight tackles.

AJA (4-1) hosts Abundant Life Friday.

Calhoun Academy 14, Richard Winn 7

WINNSBORO -- Andrew Robinson was 11 of 21 passing for 142 yards and a touchdown and came up with an interception on defense to lead the Cavaliers to victory.

Calhoun Academy got on the board first when Wienges hauled in a 29-yard touchdown pass from Robinson in the first quarter. Jake King added the extra point.

The Cavaliers second touchdown came on a 2-yard run by Robinson in the second quarter. King added the extra point.

Richard Winn’s touchdown came with 2:03 to go in the first half.

Bryan Love rushed for 115 yards on 23 carries for CA. Wienges finished with three catches for 46 yards and a touchdown and Taylor Culler had four catches for 40 yards.

Caleb Chappell and Jake King each had eight tackles, and Wienges and Jimmy Reed each had an interception.

CA (4-0) travels to Mullins Friday to play Pee Dee Academy.

Colleton Prep 27, Dorchester Academy 19

ST. GEORGE -- Parker Headley rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns to lead CPA past DA.

DA got a 64-yard touchdown run from quarterback Thomas McAlhaney, a 3-yard touchdown run from tailback Trevor Davis and a 9-yard scoring pass from McAlhaney to Tyler Crook.

DA falls to 2-3 with the loss.

Scott’s Branch 54, Swansea 8

Scott’s Branch bombed Swansea Friday night, 54-8.

Scott’s Branch unloaded on the Tigers in the first period with 30 points and then tacked on 8 more in each of the following quarters for the final score. Swansea did not score until the fourth period.

Swansea dropped to 0-4 with the loss, while Scott’s Branch evened their record at 2-2. The Tigers host Gilbert next Friday in Swansea, while Scott’s Branch travels to Charleston to take on Burke.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt 41, Branchville 0

BRANCHVILLE -- The woes of a startup program continued Friday as Branchville dropped its fourth consecutive game, by a score of 41-0 to Bamberg-Ehrhardt.

The Red Raiders improved to 4-0 overall, 1-0 in region play. They host Military Magnet next Friday for Homecoming.

Offensively for B-E, Demetrius Williams had five carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns; Anquan Thomas had six carries for 45 yards and a touchdown; Jevonta Middleton had six carries for 67 yards; Devon Wilson had five carries for 70 yards; Zack Godley had a carry for 19 yards and a touchdown; Randon Sandifer had three carries for 7 yards and a touchdown and then hooked up with Jahkiry Johnson on a 17-yard play for a touchdown.



JDA 34, Long Cane 14


MCCORMICK — With the game tied at halftime, Jefferson Davis scored 20 unanswered points in the second half to pick up the win.

Nic Jamison led the Raiders offensively with 28 carries for 362 yards and five touchdowns. Jamison and Alex Still each collected 12 tackles in the win.

JDA (3-2, 1-1) will travel to Bowman Academy on Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Clarendon Hall 38, Palmetto Christian 28

CHARLESTON — Thanks to three touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown by Mackenzie Salisbury, Clarendon Hall topped Palmetto Christian to pick up their third win of the season.

Wade Brown and David Tindal each had a 40-yard touchdown reception while Zach Sharpe came away with a 50-yard touchdown reception. Brown also had a rushing touchdown to his credit.

Defensively, Graison Matthews recorded four sacks and Josh McCleod recovered a fumble.

Clarendon Hall (3-2, 2-1) will travel to St. John’s Christian on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

HKT 38, Ridge Spring-Monetta 6

MONETTA — HKT picked up their first win of the season by dominating Ridge Spring-Monetta 38-6.

Kwane Gleaton finished the contest with 123 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Montaurus Gleaton was 16-for-20 for 192 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. Schawn Jamison pulled in five catches for 111 yards with two touchdowns. D’Twane Fulmer had seven receptions with 60 yards and a touchdown.

Sharrod Jamison led the Trojan defense with a forced fumble, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and two pass deflections. DeAngelo Robinson also came up with a fumble recovery.

HKT (1-3, 1-0) will host Wagener-Salley at 7:30 on Friday.
