An 18-year-old Gaston woman suspected in the theft of a donation bucket for a child with cancer has been arrested on a charge of petit larceny, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said officers with the West Columbia Police Department arrested Krystal Dawn Hall, 18, of 1739 Woodtrail Drive, Gaston, at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28. Hall was being held on Monday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.

An arrest warrant alleges that on Sept. 11, Hall entered a Gaston convenience store and removed a bucket provided for customers to make donations to help pay medical expenses for 7-year-old Clay Dixon. The bucket, which was kept by the store’s cash register, contained $50 in cash and coins.
