SANTEE - Police are seeking a suspect in a shooting that left a Vance man injured.

Santee Police Capt. Anthony Staten said his agency is seeking Michael Antonio Brown, also known as “Tony.” The 20-year-old is wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting in front of the Bada Boom Club in Santee.

“I consider him armed and dangerous,” Staten said. “I followed him one day and he threw a gun down and took off. He knows we’re looking for him. He’s on the run.”

Staten said authorities have obtained a warrant against Brown for assault and battery with intent to kill.

The shooting occurred in the middle of Highway 6 in front of the Bada Boom Club, according to police.

It happened within sight of a police officer who was investigating a separate incident nearby. The officer heard four or five shots fired, Staten said.

“There was a guy who walked up in front of (the victim) and ‘pow, pow, pow, pow,’” Staten said after the shooting. “The victim then went to the hospital,” with at least one gunshot wound to his left side.

The shooter then fled from the area, Staten said.

Anyone with information about the incident or Brown’s location is asked to call any law enforcement agency. Brown reportedly lives in the Omega Court area off Highway 176.
