Varsity Volleyball

HKT 3, Wagener-Salley 0

NEESES -- The Lady Trojans knocked off Wagener-Salley in three straight games 25-12, 25-10, 25-16.

Talena Milhouse led the way for H-K-T with 13 points, eight aces, four blocks and four kills; Chelsea Zeigler came away with nine points and two aces; Iesha Anthony had eight points, six kills, two aces and two blocks; Sheila Jamison added five points, two kills, an ace and a block.

H-K-T will travel to Williston-Elko at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Lady Raiders still unbeaten

DALZELL -- Defending SCISA Class 2-A champion Holly Hill Academy defeated Thomas Sumter Academy 25-9, 25-4 and 25-14 on Thursday.

Leading the Lady Raiders (13-0, 5-0) were Victoria Way with 17 assists, two digs and an ace; Wehme Carolyn Hutto with 13 digs, six kills, five assists and an ace; Mary Auburn Shuler with 10 kills, four aces, three digs and two blocks and Carlie Franklin with eight aces, five digs and four kills.

HHA will travel to Calhoun Academy on Tuesday.

Lady Mohawks split trimatch

ROWESVILLE -- Bethune-Bowman fell to Branchville 26-24, 25-15.

Leading the way for the Lady Mohawks was Mya Berry with four points and six assists; Rhonda Hook added seven assists while LaQuanda Williams tallied five dinks.

Bethune-Bowman later defeated Denmark-Olar in two sets 25-20, 25-23.

Berry had six points and seven assists in this contest; Hook came away with five assists; Jasmine Shuler had four spikes and four kills.

Bethune-Bowman (4-3, 1-1) will face Branchville and Denmark-Olar at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Branchville sweeps

Region 5-A tri-match

ROWESVILLE -- In a Region 5-A tri-match played Thursday, Branchville defeated Bethune-Bowman (26-24, 25-15) and Denmark-Olar (25-16, 25-8).

The Lady Yellow Jackets (8-4, 2-0) were led by Kay Anne Murray with 16 service points, five aces and six assists, Miranda Nichols with 13 service points, four aces and 12 assists, Courtney Simmons with 12 service points, seven kills, four aces and three blocks and Savannah Connor with seven service points, four aces, 12 kills and two blocks.

Branchville travels to Lake Marion on Monday.

North 3, Blackville-Hilda 2

NORTH -- The Lady Eagles came from behind after being down 2-0 to the Lady Hawks to earn their seventh win this season (20-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-19, 17-15).

Diana Linder led North with 20 points, two digs and two spikes; Ericka Jamison had 19 points, 16 spikes, four aces and two blocks; Alexandria Roach totaled 17 points, 14 spikes, two blocks and two aces; Miasha Dixon finished with 14 points and four spikes; Chasidy Welch added 14 points with a dig and an ace; Yniekwa Yon chipped in with another 14-point effort.

North (7-4, 5-4) will head to Fox Creek on Tuesday.

Dutch Fork 3,

Orangeburg-Wilkinson 0

IRMO -- Orangeburg-Wilkinson fell to 3-9 overall, 2-7 in Region 5-AAAA following a 10-25, 16-25 and 14-25

loss to Dutch Fork on Thursday.

Shameka Randolph had four kills and three aces and Chymaine Guinyard had five service points, three kills and two blocks for the Bruinettes, who play a tri-match at Swansea against the Lady Tigers and Fairfield-Central on Monday.

Edisto 3, Barnwell 0

CORDOVA -- The Lady Cougars swept the Lady Warhorses 25-2, 25-10, 25-11.

Anna Salley led the team with 20 points, 12 assists, two aces and a kill; Summer Newman had 15 points, 11 aces and three kills; Taylor Gray ended the match with 13 points, 10 assists, four aces and a kill; Molly Bookhart pitched in with seven points, 13 kills, five blocks, three digs, two assists and an ace.

Edisto (13-5) will travel to Pelion at 5 p.m. on Tuesday

JV Football

O-W 22, Dutch Fork 14

The Bruins picked up their fourth win against the Silver Foxes at home.

Cyril Davis had a 10-yard touchdown run and followed that with a pass to Brandon Lee to complete the 2-point conversion. K’sone Williams connected with Roderick Davenport on a 16-yard touchdown pass. Davenport later scored on a 5-yard touchdown run. Williams followed the run with a pass to Devonte Gibson for the 2-point conversion.

Defensively, Raheem Rumph and Morris Hodges led O-W with six tackles. Brandon Lee had the game-winning interception to seal the victory for the Bruins.

O-W (4-1) will host Lexington at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Lake Marion 18, Bluffton 8

SANTEE -- The Gators picked up their second win of the season thanks in large part to Chris Jenkins.

Jenkins finished the night with 100 yards on seven carries with three touchdowns.

Donte Lamar led the Lake Marion defense with seven tackles. Craig Miller recorded six tackles and three sacks while Michael Palmer ended the night with five tackles and three sacks.

Lake Marion (2-1) will travel to Hilton Head at 6:30 on Thursday.

HHA 22, Williamsburg 14

HOLLY HILL -- Travis Spence helped the Raiders earn their fourth win of the season as they downed Williamsburg Academy.

Spence ended the night with two rushing touchdowns and two 2-point conversions. Jonathan McWaters had a 7-yard pass to Kyle Clark for HHA’s third touchdown of the night.

Justin Brownlee led the Raider defense with 12 tackles. Noah Lewis tallied 11 tackles and two blocked punts.

Holly Hill Academy (4-1) will host Clarendon Hall at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

OPS 44, Calhoun Academy 16

After trailing 16-13 at the half, the Indians scored 28 unanswered points and walked away with their fourth win of the season.

Cody Clfiton got things started for OPS with a 20-yard touchdown and Evan Graves added the extra point.

The Cavaliers the next two touchdowns with accompanying 2-point conversions making it 16-7 CA.

Cap Thackston responded for the Indians with a 15-yard scoring run before the half.

OPS continued to put points on the board in the second half. Aaron Crandall scored on a 35-yard run and Thackston added the 2-point conversion. Thackston later added a 5-yard touchdown run and his second 2-point conversion of the night making it 29-16 Indians. Crandall scored again on a 40-yard run with Thackston adding another 2-point conversion. Jet Thompson came away with the final touchdown for Orangeburg Prep on a 25-yard run and Graves adding the extra point.

Defensively, James Burns led OPS with eight tackles. Hastine Jennings had six tackles and an interception. Sean Odom also came away with an interception.

OPS (4-2) will travel to Thomas Sumter on Thursday.

B-E wins

ST. MATTHEWS -- Bamberg-Ehrhardt blanked Calhoun County 38-0. in St. Matthews. In B-team action, the Red Raiders defeated Blackville-Hilda 16-14.

Both B-E teams improved to 3-1 on the season.

JV Volleyball

Branchville 2,

Bethune-Bowman 0

ROWESVILLE -- Branchville earned its eight win of the season with a 25-12, 25-17 performance against the Lady Mohawks.

The Lady Yellow Jackets were led by Breeanna Ardis with 10 points and three aces; Caroline Murray came up with seven points, five aces and three assists.

Bethune-Bowman’s leading player was Shamekia Kearse with five points.

Branchville (8-3) will go to Santee to face Lake Marion at 5 p.m. on Monday.

Edisto 2, Barnwell 0

CORDOVA -- Edisto earned its sixth win with the 25-23, 25-19 win over the Lady Warhorses.

Ashley Gallman led the way for the Lady Cougars with 17 service points; Laken Smoak had six points; Caitlin Bishop finished with four points while Taylor Smoak contributed with four assists and three kills.

Edisto (6-6) will travel to Pelion on Tuesday.

B-Team Football

OPS 32, Calhoun Academy 6

Orangeburg Prep put up 26 unanswered points in three quarters to give themselves their fourth win of the season.

Cameron Thompson returned a punt 59 yards for the first touchdown of the game and followed that with the 2-point conversion in the first quarter. Thompson also had a 3-yard touchdown run with 1:25 to go in the first half to make it 14-0 OPS. Reeves Connelly found the end zone from 61 yards out for the Indians with 7:13 left in the third. Nearly a minute later, Derrick Andrews picked off an errant Cavalier pass and returned it 41 yards for a touchdown making it 26-0. Ches Gleaton tacked on the final touchdown in the final quarter with a 7-yard run.

Ryan Sandifer scored the only points for Calhoun on a 46-yard run in the third quarter.

Defensively, the Indians were led by Connelly with 11 tackles with six tackles for a loss. Charlie Sutcliffe had seven tackles. Chase Stoudenmire and Clay Lee each grabbed an interception in the win.

OPS improves to 4-1 while Calhoun falls to 1-1. The Indians will travel to Thomas Sumter at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
