No response to (wild) cats
Sunday, October 05, 2008This is a letter about animal control for the city of Orangeburg. I have now called seven out of 10 days to animal control and have been told my message would be given to an officer. I have yet to be contacted by an officer, although I have left my work and cell numbers numerous times.
Several months ago, after calling multiple times, I was contacted by an animal control officer who said she would bring a trap the next day or the day after that. I never saw any traps and the cats I called about were still on my porch.
My husband took time from his work day and trapped two of the cats (with a trap I borrowed from my mother) and took them to animal control. There are now three (wild) cats still on my porch. The gray adult cat is pregnant, again!
When I first started calling, I told animal control there were six to seven cats, but now due to no response, there are only three to be trapped while waiting for a response. Three cats have been killed on the road, instead of being humanely euthanized.
