Orangeburg County Council at its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. today will consider first reading by title only of an ordinance authorizing an agreement by and between Orangeburg County and Monteferro USA Inc. providing for a fee in lieu of taxes.

Monteferro, an international manufacturer of elevator guide rails, will locate a 42,000-square-foot facility in the Orangeburg County/City Industrial Park. The company will manufacture steel guide rails and other elevator accessories at the plant.

County council will also consider a resolution authorizing an incentive and inducement package for Monteferro.

In other business, council will consider a second amendment to an agreement with the Town of Branchville related to establishing and managing an account in connection with a Rural Development grant and loan to the town. The purpose of the amendment is to increase county funding to the town so that it can pay money owed to project contractors, with payments not to exceed $420,000.

Among other items, the council will also consider an agreement with Correctional Risk Services to manage claims for inmate medical expenses.
