SCSU’s Harrison, Nathan earn MEAC honors

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va -- Two South Carolina State players were among student-athletes earning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Weekly Football honors, the league announced Monday.
Senior center Raymond Harrison was named Offensive Lineman of the Week, while guard Jauvahr Nathan earned Rookie of the Week accolades for their play in the Bulldogs’ 28-21 victory over Florida A&M.
Also honored were wide receiver Phillip Kirkland and defensive back Travis Roland, both of Bethune-Cookman, as the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, and Carlo Turavani of Hampton, as Special Teams Player of the Week.
Harrison, who is being recognized for the second time this season, anchored the Bulldog offensive line that collected 193 yards rushing and allowed no sacks in a 28-21 win over Florida A&M. He recorded four pancake blocks, three domination blocks and four cut blocks. One of his blocks directly resulted in a touchdown for the Bulldogs.
Nathan aided the SC State offensive line that accounted for 364 total offensive yards. He graded out on 83-percent on assignments and collected four pancake blocks, three domination blocks, and four cut blocks in the win.

compete with top teams, when the game is on the line. SCSU players are moving from good to great and his final touchdown is indictive of greatness. Terrence Smith one hand touchdown last year is another example of greatness. All the Dawgs are part of the greatness which is about to take place often. GO DAWGS... "
