Shannon Kanae Blair: Miss Homecoming 2008
Friday, October 10, 2008Shannon Kanae’ Blair is South Carolina State University’s Miss Homecoming 2008.
The sophomore biology major is a native of Birmingham, Ala.
The S.C. State Bulldogs will take on the Norfolk State Spartans on Saturday, Oct. 11. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. in the Oliver C. Dawson Stadium on campus.
Blair, who will be crowned during halftime of the football game, is a STEM Scholar, SCAMP Scholar, Presidential Scholar and also a Bronze Scholar.
On campus, Blair is a proud member of S.C. State’s Honors Program and the Alpha Xi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
In the community, she is actively involved at the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA). She is a certified swimming instructor and a dance teacher. She also serves as a peer tutor and dance instructor for eighth-graders at S.C. State’s Felton Elementary School.
Blair is presently a member of the Marching 101 Band, where she is a member of the dance troupe, Champagne, and also participates in the jazz ensemble. She enjoys jazz ballot and hip-hop dancing.
Blair has an admiration for animals and traveling. Her favorite color is red and she loves flowers. Her ultimate love is dancing, which she has been doing for 15 years.
“I am very excited about becoming Miss Homecoming 2008,” Blair said. “I am so glad that I was given this awesome opportunity.”
Upon graduating from S.C. State, Blair plans to attend dental school and become an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon.
