George A. 'Toot' Rickenbaker

George Aubrey "Toot" Rickenbaker, 73, of 74 Copperhead Road, St. Matthews, died Saturday evening, Oct. 11, 2008, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Congaree Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Wayne Golden officiating.

Mr. Rickenbaker was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late George Blease Rickenbaker and Annie Mae Spigner Rickenbaker. He was retired from Guess Farm Equipment after 42 years. He was a member of the BPOE Lodge No. 897. Mr. Rickenbaker was a member of Congaree Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Rickenbaker, and a sister, Judy R. Heckle.

Survivors include his wife, Miriam F. Rickenbaker of the home; daughters, Bonnie R. Martin and husband, Ronnie of St. Matthews and Missy Rickenbaker of York; daughter-in-law, Janet P. Rickenbaker of St. Matthews; grandchildren, Ellen Rickenbaker of Charleston, Greg Rickenbaker of St. Matthews, Ryan and wife, Nikki Martin of St. Matthews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. At other times, friends may call at the residence.

Memorials may be made to the Congaree Baptist Church, 299 Old Belleville Road, St. Matthews, SC 29135, Hospice of the Regional Medical Center, 1895 St. Matthews Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118 or to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.

Dukes-Harley Funeral Home of Orangeburg is in charge of arrangements.
