Orangeburg Touchdown Club to meet Thursday
The Orangeburg Touchdown Club will meet Thursday at The Cinema in the Old Orangeburg Mall.
Calhoun County’s David Sims will be honored as the Offensive Player of the Week; Bamberg-Ehrhardt’s Jeffery Salley will be honored as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Willis to speak at B-E QB Club
BAMBERG - Newberry head football coach Zak Willis will be the guest speaker this Friday at the Bamberg-Ehrhardt Quarterback Club.
The meeting is held at Paw Paw Country Club and begins at noon. The cost includes the meal is $6 for members and $8 for Non-Members. If you would like to join the Quaterback Club, membership is $25.00.

Volleyball
Lady Bulldogs beat Lady Rams
The South Carolina State University women’s volleyball hit a combined .354 as they swept Winston-Salem State 25-20, 25-16, 25-21) in a non-conference matchup in Dukes Gymnasium.
Junior Linnie Garrett, sophomore Jarne Gleaton and freshman Shabree Roberson led the balanced attack as they each recorded eight kills in the victory. Freshman Bria Brimmer put up 32 assists as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-17 on the season.
S.C. State travels to Conway today to take on the Lady Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina University. The Lady Bulldogs will return home next weekend when they host the seven-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference defending champions Florida A&M and North Carolina A&T on Friday and Sunday.
Friday’s first serve is set from 6 p.m. while Sunday’s first serve is set for 1 p.m.
Varsity Volleyball
HHA 3, St. John’s 0
HOLLY HILL -- Holly Hill Academy improved to 16-0 with a 25-8, 25-4, 24-20 win over St. John’s Tuesday.
Victoria Way led HHA with 16 assists, four aces, two digs and a kill; Wehme Carolyn Hutto had 13 digs, nine kills, five kills and five aces; Meredith Jenkins had 12 kills and four digs; Mary Auburn Shuler had nine kills, five digs and an ace and Carlie Franklin had six aces, four kills and four digs.

Branchville 2, Calhoun County 0
ST. MATTHEWS - Branchville defeated Bamberg-Ehrhardt (25-18, 25-5) and Calhoun County (25-8, 25-18) in a Region 5-A tri-match on Tuesday.
Leading the Lady Yellow Jackets were Austin Kinard with 21 service points, 14 aces and two kills; Chenise Stokes with 16 service points, 11 aces and three assists; Kay Anne Murray with 14 service points, five aces and seven assists and Kaitlin Felder with five kills.
Branchville (17-4, 8-0) plays host to Calhoun County and Allendale-Fairfax Thursday in another Region 5-A tri-match.
OPS 3, Laurence Manning 0
MANNING -- Orangeburg Prep improved to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in region play with a 25-19, 25-15, 25-21 win over Laurence Manning.
Kayla Mims led the way with three aces, six kills and three digs; Sallie Covington had seven kills and five digs, Liz Helms had three aces and six digs, Becca Helms had two aces, six assists and nine digs, Brandy McRae had 12 kills, nine digs and two blocks, and Annie Westlund had an ace, three kills, 19 assists and eight digs.
Edisto 3, Silver Bluff 0
AIKEN -- Summer Newman had 27 points, six aces, two kills and a block in leading Edisto past Silver Bluff 25-10, 25-16, 25-18.
Haley Carson added 15 points, five aces, seven kills, a block and five digs for Edisto; Molly Bookhart had 10 points, an ace, nine kills, two assists and four blocks.
Edisto (18-5) will host Ridgeland Thursday at 5 p.m.
Calhoun Academy 3, Thomas Sumter 0
ST. MATTHEWS -- Calhoun Academy defeated Thomas Sumter Academy 25-15, 25-12, 25-14.
Jessica Lyons led CA with 18 points, 13 aces and eight kills; Megan Carn had 11 points and five kills, Kelsey Sanders had 10 points, five aces and six kills, Mallory Baskins had seven points and four assists, and Annie Hickson had five points.
Calhoun Academy (8-8, 4-4) will host Colleton Prep Thursday.
Varsity Soccer
Bouchette’s hat trick not enough for OCA
PAGELAND - Orangeburg Christian Academy dropped a 3-3 (2-1 shootout) match to South Pointe Christian Academy on Tuesday.
Quint Garvin had 32 saves and Michael Bouchette had three goals for OCA, who open the playoffs Monday at Victory Christian Academy in North Augusta.
JV Volleyball
HHA 2, St. John’s 0
HOLLY HILL -- Marissa Becker had 11 aces, seven digs and four assists in Holly Hill Academy’s 25-11, 25-12 victory.
Emily Watkins added 10 digs, three aces and a kill; Kayla Crider had four kills and three digs.
Middle School Football
Holly Hill-Roberts Middle 38, Scott’s Branch 12
SANTEE -- Mike Williams accounted for four touchdowns to lead Holly Hill-Roberts to victory.
Williams had receiving touchdowns of 34 and 37 yards from quarterback Torrance Wright, and also passed for two touchdowns, 82 and 63 yard scores. Treyvon Mack had a 63-yard touchdown and Lucas Hughes had a 30-yard touchdown, and Khalil Hill caught two touchdowns.
Defensively, Jerome Gibbs had eight tackels. HH-R improves to 2-3 overall.
