BAMBERG -- After taking a hiatus during the work on U.S. 301 and 78, the Bamberg TreasureFest is back in 2008 with new amusements and a new location, along with some old favorites.

The TreasureFest, scheduled for Nov. 7-8, will move from the walking trail along U.S. 78 through town to the Ness Sports Complex and will feature carnival rides from Air Fun Rentals of Lexington.

Along with food and antique vendors, the TreasureFest will also include the popular BBQ Cook-off and a display of antique cars, trucks and tractors.

Among the musical and other entertainment acts slated to perform on Saturday, Nov. 8, are The Force, the South Carolina State Championship Double Dutch Jump Ropers, gospel performers Marty Clayton and White Stone and the Revelation Ministries Dance Ministry. Also scheduled to make an appearance Saturday afternoon is SpongeBob SquarePants.

Saturday evening's entertainment will conclude with performances by Bamberg's own David Cooler as well as Otis Brown and Big Bad Elvis Impersonator Norman Bolen.

The TreasureFest parade will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, featuring antique cars, trucks and tractors. Grand marshals for the parade will be Bamberg-Ehrhardt High Baseball Coach David Horton and members of the 2008 Bamberg-Ehrhardt State Championship baseball team.

"We're looking forward to the new location. The amusements and the music promise to be the best ever," Bamberg Mayor Alton McCollum said.

Applications are still being accepted for vendors and for contestants in the BBQ Cook-off. For more information, call Bamberg City Hall at 803-245-5128.
