By T&D Staff Sunday, October 26, 2008Chicken teriyaki, smoked turkey legs, charbroiled steak kabobs, dolphin chunks, sausage dogs.
Get your taste buds revved up and your palates in gear, it’s again time for “Taste of Orangeburg.”
The Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Association and South Carolina Bank & Trust will sponsor the 12th annual “Taste” today (Sunday) from noon until 3:30 p.m.
The event, which will feature about 23 vendors, will be held on the downtown square. The alternate location in case of rain will be the cattle barn at the Orangeburg County Fairgrounds.
“We have a great variety of foods this year,” DORA Executive Director Bernice Tribble said. “I think we have something for everybody.”
Admission is free but food tickets may be purchased at ticket booths located on each corner of the square as you enter the area.
Attendees will also have a chance to vote for the winners of the Scarecrows-on-the-Square competition.
The monies raised will go toward DORA operating expenses and will be applied to the acquisition of backdoor parking for downtown merchants.
“I think that will be the real secret to the success of the shopping district,” Tribble said.
Live entertainment will be available throughout the afternoon featuring three bands – Route 66, The Red Hour, Visions and DORA’s own Orangeburg Idol, Eden Graves.
