EHRHARDT - Ehrhardt Town Council members voted to enter into an agreement with Bamberg County that will allow the countys building inspector to act in the same capacity for Ehrhardt.

The action came during councils regular meeting on Oct. 20.

Bill Johnson, the county's building inspector, appeared before the town council to present the agreement, telling members that just about every town in the county has come on board for him to operate in that capacity.

Ehrhardt Town Council will need to develop ordinances that mirror Bamberg County's ordinances on unsafe buildings and unkempt lots to provide Johnson with enforcement guidelines and procedures, it was noted.

In other business, Ehrhardt Fire Chief Chad Dilling reported on the condition of the towns firefighting vehicles, including a request to purchase eight commercial truck batteries to keep two of the vehicles in operation.

Dilling also announced a Soup Supper is being planned in conjunction with the towns Christmas parade as a fund-raiser for the fire department. In addition, he reported the department is conducting fire safety inspections of Ehrhardt businesses.
