An Orangeburg man is out $6,000 after an out-of-state check for a horse bounced last month.

The man told deputies Tuesday that in early September he sold a Paso Fino to a New Jersey couple, who paid with a $6,000 bank check.

The horse was then transported to New Jersey.

Meantime, the check was discovered to have insufficient funds behind it, according to the incident report.

When the Orangeburg man spoke with the subject about it, the New Jersey man cursed him, saying “he did not know what the --- he was talking about,” the report said. Again cursing, the subject advised the Orangeburg man to speak with the subject’s wife about the matter “and he would see him in ------- court.”

In other reports:

* A Norway man notified deputies Tuesday to report his home was burglarized and tools were missing.

The man said that at around 1:30 p.m., he discovered thieves had entered his house and taken a quantity of power tools. A Black and Decker router, a Bosch air compressor, a nail gun and a Craftsman table saw were among the $2,460 worth of missing tools.

* A Land’s End Road man called law enforcement Tuesday to report his late model motorcycle missing form his residence.

The man said his orange-and-black 2007 Kawasaki Ninja was valued at $10,000. Deputies entered the bike into NCIC.

A Murrells Inlet man went to jail late Tuesday after a bulletin was put out about a shoplifter’s vehicle.

At around 10:09 p.m., a Chestnut Street Bi-Lo worker called police saying a man at the back of the store had placed items in his pants, the report said. When employees approached the man asking him to stop, the man ignored them and kept walking to his vehicle, they said. He then left the parking lot. The employees gave police a description and tag number for the man’s white SUV.

Officers at the intersection of Ellis Avenue and Chestnut Street radioed police at Bi-Lo saying they had an individual matching their description, the report said.

When the employees were shown the man, they confirmed he was the shoplifter.
