The final game of the regular season proved to be a statement week for Blackville-Hilda’s Joe Thomas and Edisto’s Lawrence Buck.

For Thomas, his team entered their final game hoping to clinch the Region 4-A title while keeping their perfect record untarnished. With 185 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries, he led his team to a 21-0 victory over Williston-Elko on the night after he was left off the Shrine Bowl and North-South roster. Thus, Thomas earned his second Offensive Player of the Week award for his performance.

Meanwhile at Ridgeland, Lawrence Buck led the Cougars’ defensive charge with a 19-tackle effort in a 7-6 win over Ridgeland. Both players will be honored at the Orangeburg Touchdown Club today at the Old Cinema. The guest speaker for the event is Furman head coach Bobby Lamb. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m.
