BBQ Cook-Off, antiques gospel music this weekend

BAMBERG, S.C. – Folks who love great music, barbecue, antiques, food and parades won’t want to miss this weekend’s Bamberg TreasureFest.

The TreasureFest, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7-8, will move from its former location on the walking trail along U.S. 78 to the Ness Sports Complex and will feature carnival rides from Air Fun Rentals of Lexington.

Along with food and antique vendors, the TreasureFest will also include the popular BBQ Cook-Off and a display of antique cars, trucks and tractors.

Among the musical and other entertainment acts slated to perform on Saturday are “The Force,” the South Carolina State Championship Double Dutch Jump Ropers, gospel performers Marty Clayton & White Stone as well as Marion Dobson and the Revelation Ministries Dance Ministry. Also scheduled to make an appearance Saturday afternoon is Spongebob Squarepants.

Saturday evening’s entertainment will conclude with performances by Bamberg’s own David Cooler as well as Otis Brown, formerly of The Drifters and Big Bad Elvis Impersonator Norman Bolen.

The TreasureFest Parade will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, featuring the antique cars, trucks and tractors. Grand marshals for the parade will be legendary Bamberg-Ehrhardt High Baseball Coach David Horton, who is the 2008 Bamberg County Chamber of Commerce “Citizen of the Year,” and members of the 2008 Bamberg-Ehrhardt State Championship baseball team.
