ST. MATTHEWS – A hearing will be held on Monday, Nov. 17, by the Calhoun County Election Commission to consider the protests filed by two unsuccessful candidates in the races for the District 1 and District 4 seats on the Calhoun County School District Board of Trustees in the Nov. 4 general election.

Calhoun County Voter Registration Director Tomasine Brice said that during Friday’s certification of election results, both Tommy Glover, who failed in his bid for the District 1 school board seat, and District 4 incumbent Michael Drake, who lost his reelection bid, filed protests.

Brice said she could not discuss the basis for the protests filed by Glover or Drake until she has talked with the county attorney, which she said will probably be Wednesday, Nov. 15. Brice noted that she is having a minor surgical procedure on Monday and that on Tuesday county offices will be closed for Veterans’ Day.

In Tuesday’s general election, District 1 incumbent Gary Porth was reelected, and veteran educator Joyce Parrish defeated District 4 incumbent Michael Drake.

" The first word of every sentence is to be capitalized even if that word is god.

If saying "God help the board if they have to put up with this piece of work" is the worst thing ever said about someone then that person must be a true saint.

You know you can still file a protest with the state election commission. "

" There is a difference between opinion and slander. An opinion is not a fact, because opinions are either not falsifiable, or the opinion has not been proven or verified. If it later becomes proven or verified, it is no longer an opinion, but a fact. Slander is an untruthful oral (spoken) statement about a person that harms the person's reputation or standing in the community. I wouldn't say that you are a piece of work because I don't know you for a bag of apples. My grandmother always said,"If you can't say anything good, then don't say anything at all."
God can be refered to Jesus if you are a Christian. When the g in god is capitalized, it gives the word a completely diffrent meaning. That's another ball of wax though. Thanks for the well wishes in the protest. I missed the meeting because I was out of the country. "Everything works out for the good of those who love....." "

" Tglover:
Everyone is a true individual right?
Second anyone can express an opinion right?
Third "god" is not a name it is a title for any entity that a person confers special homage too.
Jesus is a name, Allah is a name, Yahweh is a name. I did not take any name in vain when I said god help the board if they have to put up with this piece of work for four years.
Good luck on your protest btw. "

" Mrs. Parrish is a true individual that has always placed children first. I should know, she was my principal. Her goal is to fight for the children and citizens of Calhoun County. It is a shame that others write inconsiderate comments and hide behind usernames. It is also a shame that others continue to use His name in vain. The objective is to prepare our children for the world that is changing rapidly. Change is inevitable, therefore, we must get use to it. "

" Wednesday will be November 12th, not the 15th. You don't have to post this message. I just needed to make that known. Thanks! "

" pray that 65 of parrish's votes were from the grateful dead!

This woman is not the kind of change this district needs.

God help the board if they have to put up with this piece of work for four years. "
