S.C. HIGH SCHOOL
LEAGUE PLAYOFFS
CLASS A
(Division I)
Blacksburg (2-8) at Calhoun County (10-0)
First-ever meeting between the two teams.
ST. MATTHEWS -- Coming off its first-ever perfect regular season, the top-seeded Saints begin their quest for a first title in football against a Wildcats’ team which prior to last week’s 49-23 win over Southside Christian averaged just 9.1 points a game.
Bamberg-Ehrhardt (7-3) at Lewisville (5-4)
First-ever meeting between the two teams.
LEWISVILLE -- The Red Raiders snapped a three-game losing streak by winning its annual “Battle of Bamberg County” with Denmark-Olar. They head on the road to face a Lions’ team which placed third in Region 3-A behind Chesterfield and Great Falls and have a North-South All-Star in running back Isaiah Johnson.
Allendale-Fairfax (7-3) at Carver’s Bay (8-2)
First-ever meeting between the two teams.
HEMINGWAY -- A matchup of South Carolina State alumni in the Tigers’ Wayne Farmer and the Bears’ James Thompson. After a 2-3 start, the Tigers have run off five straight wins led by running back Jerrell Priester’s 1,119 yards and 11 TDs. The Bears have one of the state’s most stifling defenses, having allowed 65 points all season, led by Kwame Geathers’ five sacks and Keyshawn Frasier’s 116 tackles.
(Division II)
Whitmire (6-4) at Williston-Elko (9-1)
Last meeting -- Won by Whitmire 34-26 (Nov. 24, 1978)
WILLISTON -- The two teams let met in the Class A semifinals and the Wolverines went on to win the state title. The Blue Devils enter with the better record, but are coming off a demoralizing 21-0 loss to Barnwell County rival Blackville-Hilda.
Hunter-Kinard-Tyler (5-5) at Great Falls (7-3)
First-ever meeting between the two teams.
GREAT FALLS -- The Trojans are back in the playoffs after a two-year absence and seek their first playoff victory since 2002. A year after reaching the Class A Division II title game, the Red Devils enter the postseason having held their last two opponents scoreless.
CLASS 2-A
Wade Hampton (5-5) at Woodland (7-3)
Last meeting -- Won by Woodland 50-40 (Oct. 26, 2007)
BYRDS -- It’s the first-ever home playoff game for the Wolverines, who can set a new school record for victories tonight. Consistency has been a problem for the Red Devils all season and a win would mark only the second time this season they would have won consecutive games.
Edisto (6-4) at Bishop England (7-2)
Last meeting -- Won by Edisto 23-21 (Nov. 2, 2007)
CHARLESTON -- The Cougars look to make it two years in a row against the Bishops, who lost out to Woodland for the Region 5-AA title on the tiebreaker. Reigning Orangeburg Touchdown Club Defensive Player of the Week Lawrence Buck had 19 tackles last week against Ridgeland. North-South All-Star Kamrie Connell needs 128 passing yards to reach 1,000 for the season.
Week 11 roundup
S.C. High School League
Richland Northeast (6-4, 4-2) at Orangeburg-Wilkinson (5-5, 1-5)

SCISA
8-MAN

Holly Hill Academy (5-6) at Dillon Christian Academy (10-1)
The two teams did not meet last season.
DILLON -- Last year’s perfect season is now a memory for the Raiders. They head on the road to face the only team to defeat Laurens Academy this season. The Warriors’ Roy Thomas has rushed for over 1,000 yards this season and the defense is holding opponents to 10 points a contest.
CLASS 2-A
St. Andrews School (6-4) at Calhoun Academy (7-3)
Last meeting -- Won by St. Andrews School 3-0 (Oct. 3, 2003)
ST. MATTHEWS -- The last time these two schools met in the postseason was the 1998 SCISA Class 2-A final, won by the Saints. St. Andrews has posted shutouts in its last two games, while Calhoun Academy looks to rebound from last week’s 34-13 loss to Thomas Sumter Academy, which cost it the Region 1-AA title.
Dorchester Academy (4-6) at Northwood Academy (9-2)
Last meeting -- Won by Northwood Academy 33-14 (Aug. 31, 2007)
COLUMBIA -- The Raiders face a Chargers’ team which has not lost to a Class 2-A program all season. Northwood running back Uriah Singleton (1,636 yards, 25 TDs) returned a 94-yard kickoff for a touchdown to clinch the Region 2-AA title.
