BAMBERG – Final vote tallies in Bamberg County for the Nov. 4 general election saw some changes to total votes, but no changes to initially reported results, with President-Elect Barack Obama taking the county with 64 percent of the votes cast.

The Bamberg County Election results were certified on Friday morning. Final results indicated incumbent County Councilman Clint Carter, who was unopposed, was reelected with 891 votes. Results for Carter’s race were unavailable on election night.

Johney Haralson was elected to the Soil and Water Commission, receiving a majority of the 275 write-in votes cast for that seat at 107.

Patti Jeffcoat, the county’s director of Voter Registration, expressed relief that the process was over and indicated there were no major problems.

“I was pleased with the turnout, and thankful for all the help I had,” Jeffcoat said.
