Braves’ Pendleton, Francouer in Orangeburg this evening

Braves fan without dinner plans?

Well, Jim Roquemore has the perfect setup for you this evening. At 6 p.m., Roquemore will host a barbeque dinner at his home, with proceeds benefitting the Boy Scouts of America, and Atlanta Braves hitting coach Terry Pendleton and outfielder Jeff Francoeur are scheduled to be on hand to meet, greet and sign autographs. There is also the possibility, according to Roquemore, that several other Braves players could attend.

“They are just great guys,” Roquemore said. “They try to help with money for the Boy Scouts, and it’s a unique event in that Orangeburg raises more money than Richland County, Lexington County and Charleston.”

According to Roquemore, Orangeburg has raised $140,000 heading into tonight’s event.

“It’s probably the biggest fund raiser in Orangeburg County,” he said. “

“I am humbled by the fact that people who have such a busy schedule, like Rusty Wallace and Chipper Jones (both of whom have attended before) come out. I am more than humbled by the fact they give their time and talents for the good of the event.”

There is no set price, but Roquemore said that a $50 donation at the door is expected to attend the dinner. Roquemore’s home is on US-301.

“It’s halfway between Santee and Orangeburg,” he said. “It’s four miles after you cross I-26. It’s the big white house on the right.”
