National, state and local officials will come together today to discuss Orangeburg County's future and learn more about a logistics center planned for Santee at the county's third economic development summit.

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham has announced he will speak in the morning, while U.S. House Majority Whip James Clyburn will speak during the summit's lunch hour.

Other speakers will include:

* Buck Limehouse -- S.C. Department of Transportation executive director.

* Joe Taylor -- S.C. Secretary of Commerce.

* Bernice Groseclose -- president and CEO of the State Ports Authority.

* Ron Mitchum -- Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments executive director.

Also, Dubai-based Jafza International will unveil its much-anticipated master plan. Jafza plans to invest between $600 million and $700 million in Orangeburg County near Santee. Plans call for a 1,300-acre logistics, manufacturing and distribution park that could mean about 6,000 direct jobs.

Steve Eames, executive vice president for operations of Jafza Americas Inc. and Jafza South Carolina LLC, will make the presentation.

The summit will be held at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. No spaces are available.
