Final casting call for 'Dear John' is Nov. 18
By T&D Staff Sunday, November 16, 2008ST. GEORGE — The final casting call for a new Nicholas Sparks film will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Tri County Regional Chamber, Klauber Building, 225 Parler Ave. in St. George.
“Dear John,” based on the novel by best-selling author Sparks (“The Notebook,” “Message in a Bottle”) and directed by Oscar-nominated Lasse Halstrom (“Cider House Rules,” “Chocolat”), is seeking individuals interested in working as extras this November and December. Filming will take place in the Charleston and Harleyville areas.
Adult males and females of all types and ethnicities are needed, as well as Indian, Moroccan, Greek and Guatemalan men, women and children; Middle Eastern men, women and children to portray civilians in a peaceful Middle Eastern village; Nigerian men, women and children, or those of native African descent; and males ages 18 to 30 to portray military men.
“Dear John” tells the story of John, a young soldier home on leave, and Savannah Curtis, the idealistic college student he meets during her spring vacation. The film stars Channing Tatum (“Step Up,” “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints”) and Amanda Seyfried (“Mamma Mia!,” “HBO’s Big Love”).
