Police are looking for a Ford SUV after a witness saw it crash into an Amelia Street light pole late Monday, according to an ODPS incident report.

Around 10:47 p.m., police were dispatched to the junction of Amelia and Middleton streets after a witness reported a vehicle leaving the scene of an accident.

The man told police a burgundy Ford Explorer was traveling on Amelia Street toward Fairey Street when it collided with a metal light pole. The witness told police the Ford then backed up and drove away.

On Tuesday, traffic was directed around the intersection of Middleton and Amelia so work crews could replace the $6,000 pole.

Pieces of the burgundy SUV were collected at the scene.

If anyone has any further information on the Ford, they are asked to contact the ODPS at 803-534-2812.

A Eutawville residence was burglarized, but the homeowner isn't sure when, according to an OCSO incident report.

The owner of the Gardensgate Street home said that sometime between July and Friday, someone entered her home and took two bedroom suites, two night stands, a stove, a freezer, a microwave and assorted pieces of china.

In addition to the $4,600 worth of missing items, the home appeared to have been ransacked.

* An Elloree man contacted police Monday after he discovered his trailer was missing.

The Snider Street man said that around 8 a.m., he realized someone made off with his grey 1979 Fruehauf trailer. The man said the brakes on the $8,000 trailer had apparently malfunctioned as there were skid marks on his property where it had been dragged away.

* A Binnickers Bridge Road woman reported a catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle she had for sale.

The woman said she had a white 1997 Toyota truck parked in her yard with a "For Sale" sign on it. The woman discovered Sunday that someone had removed the catalytic converter, causing an estimated $1,500 in damage.
