High School Basketball

Varsity Boys

Dorchester Academy 38, Bowman Academy 36

BOWMAN -- Taylor Burns had 12 points and Chris Reeves 10 to lead Dorchester Academy.

Blake Keitt had nine points, and Tyler Garrett added nine points and 17 rebounds for the Bulldogs (1-6). Bowman Academy will travel to Ehrhardt to take part in the Andrew Jackson Tournament Friday. The boys will take on Patrick Henry at 5:15 p.m. The BA girls will take on Patrick Henry at 4 p.m.

Calhoun Academy 66, Richard Winn 51

WINNSBORO -- Matthew Coonrod scored 22 points to lead Calhoun.

Trez Wienges had 12 points and Andrew Robinson had 12 points and nine rebounds. Josh Davis added eight points and 10 rebounds for CA (4-5) which plays at St. John’s Friday.

Varsity Girls

Dorchester Academy 55, Bowman Academy 13


BOWMAN -- Sabrina Herman had 13 points to lead Dorchester.

Kaitlin Riley had 11 for the Lady Raiders, and Katrina Herman had 10 points. Haley Till led BA with three points.

Dorchester (5-4) will host St. John’s on Jan. 5.

Richard Winn 45, Calhoun Academy 40

WINNSBORO -- CA suffered its first 2A setback.

Brittany Spiegel led Richard Winn with 15. Jessica Lyons and Kelsey Sanders each had 12 for CA.

Calhoun (5-5) travels to St. John’s Christian Friday.

JV Boys

Swansea 51, Gilbert 25

SWANSEA -- Carl Green scored nine points to lead Swansea.

Dominique Brooks and Jordan Sields each added eight points for the Tigers.

Swansea (4-0) plays at North Saturday.

O-W 42, Irmo 9

Derion Young scored 13 points and seven steals to lead Orangeburg-Wilkinson.

Cairston Berry added 11 points for the Bruins (3-0).

O-W will take on Dutch Fork Thursday.

Varsity Wrestling

Edisto High School defeats Pelion and O-W

CORDOVA -- Edisto continued its impressive beginning to the season, improving to 10-1, with a 41-33 win over Pelion and a 72-12 win over Orangeburg-Wilkinson.

Leading Edisto at 103 pounds was Tanner Stround (2-0); 112-pounder Andrw Gleaton was 2-0, 125-pounder Raymond Smith was 2-0; 130-pounder Darion Jones was 2-0, 145-pounder Dean Myers was 2-0, 160-pounder Lawrence Buck was 2-0, 171-pounder Tobias Tyler was 2-0, 215-pounder Josh Bingham was 1-0 and heavyweight Robbie Fisk was 2-0.

Edisto will next be in action on Friday and Saturday in the Demon Classic at Lugoff-Elgin.

JV Girls

Dorchester Academy 25, Bowman Academy 13

BOWMAN -- Taylor Barcomb led DA with 17 points.

Jessica Cline had five points and six rebounds for BA (3-3). The Lady Bulldogs play Calhoun Academy at home on Jan. 8.

Irmo 38, O-W 24

Rachel Blocker scored eight and Lasherri Sprinkle scored seven to lead Orangeburg-Wilkinson.

O-W (2-1) will be at home against Dutch Fork Thursday.

Calhoun Academy 20, Richard Winn 11

WINNSBORO -- Gracie Moore scored nine points to lead CA (2-5).

All-Area teams

Nominations are being taken for the All-Area volleyball and football teams.

No player will be named to an All-Area team without a nomination from a coach which should include the player’s height, weight, year, position and statistics.
