An Orangeburg man flagged down police Christmas Day after he was robbed of his CD player, according to an ODPS incident report.

The man said he was walking near the intersection of Russell and Dickson streets when a burgundy Ford SUV pulled up. A man asked the victim to approach the vehicle, the report said.

As the victim got closer, the man exited the vehicle, struck the victim on the head and took his CD player and headphones, he said. The victim said his assailant was a black man about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 150 pounds. He was wearing a gray sweater hat, a black T-shirt and dark blue cargo pants.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact the ODPS at 803-534-2812 or Crimestoppers of the Midlands at 1-888-CRIMESC.

In an unrelated incident, a Holly Hill woman reported her license plate was stolen during a shopping trip in Orangeburg on Christmas Eve.

The woman said she went to a Columbia Road store on Wednesday. When she exited the store around 11:07 a.m., she noticed her license plate was missing. A relative told police she saw the license plate on the vehicle when the woman left her home at 10:04 a.m.
