All-American: CC's Jeffery ready to take part in Under Armour game on ESPN tonight

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Big. Physical. Fluid. Nice hands.

The adjectives above have been used to describe Calhoun County wide receiver Alshon Jeffery during practices this week for the Under Armour All-American game, which will broadcast live on ESPN tonight at 8 p.m. Jeffery’s heard the compliments, plus one.

“They like how I can go up and get the ball,” he said Friday night.

Jeffery will play for the White team, coached by former Buffallo Bills head coach Marv Levy. He will catch passes from fellow Southern Cal recruit, quarterback Matt Barkley, and while Jeffery again maintained Friday that he was headed to the Trojans much of the discussion around the Saints’ star this week has involved his college choice. There are hints that, possibly, Jeffery could back off and head to the University of South Carolina or Tennessee.

“They have been asking me about that a lot,” Jeffery said.

But, Jeffery said he’s paid that as little attention as possible. Practices have been intense, but Jeffery said he entered the week confident and that he’s ready to make an impact in tonight’s game.

“It’s been what I expected,” he said. “This is nothing major. I’ve just been going out and working hard and trying to make plays. It’s cool. You are going to see all about it on Sunday. You are going to see all about it on Sunday.

“I’m ready for this game to get started.”

Jeffery is the second T&D Region player to take part in the Under Armour All-American game. Last season, Bamberg-Ehrhardt star and current Clemson Tiger defensive end Da’Quan Bowers was the game’s MVP.
