Woman says boyfriend beat her after he returned from jail
Wednesday, January 07, 2009A North man went back to jail Monday after an altercation with his girlfriend, according to an OCSO incident report.
A woman told deputies that the man assaulted her. She said he had gone to jail on Friday and, when he got out the following day, he assaulted her again.
She said that around 8:46 a.m., he took an iron bar and began hitting her with it.
The officers found the 32-year-old man at a nearby residence and took him back to jail.
In other reports:
* Wal-Mart security employees said they broke up an attempted theft late Monday, according to an OCSO incident report.
Around 11 p.m., security employees drove up to a small sedan parked outside of the garden section. As security drew closer, the car sped away.
Meanwhile, a man inside the business was attempting to walk out with a 42-inch flat screen TV, the employees said. When confronted, the man said he left his receipt in the car. He then took off.
Video allegedly shows the man trying to remove two 1,200-watt generators from the store. At one point, he quits with that effort and makes his way toward the exit.
Deputies are working to identify the man.
* An Orangeburg County woman reported her children's bikes were stolen from their home Monday.
The woman said she arrived home around 3 p.m. and realized someone stole a purple bike and a Spiderman bike.
The woman said she got a call informing her the bikes were seen at Glenfield Apartments. The woman went to the apartment complex and retrieved the bikes.
* A Cordova woman was taken to the hospital Monday evening after bailing out of her moving truck, according to an OCSO incident report.
The woman told deputies that she and an 18-year-old passenger were traveling on Mack Road toward Cordova around 6:30 p.m. when her truck's brakes failed.
The woman leaped out of the truck, leaving her passenger to fend for herself, according to the report.
Deputies noted it appeared the woman had been drinking. The woman stated she and the 18-year-old had not been fighting.
* A Neeses man went to jail New Year's Eve after nearly causing a wreck on Neeses Highway, according to an OCSO incident report.
A white Nissan pulled out of Neeses Camp Road and in front of a vehicle around 11:10 p.m., the report said. The second vehicle swerved to avoid a collision and traveled into a nearby ditch.
The Neeses man's night got even better when the car in the ditch turned on its blue lights.
The deputy stopped the Neeses man and learned he had no driver's license due to suspension, the report said. The 39-year-old man was charged with driving under suspension and failure to yield right of way.
