Police seized a suspicious vehicle late Monday after finding substances they thought were illegal drugs in and around it, according to an ODPS incident report.

Patrolling the Edisto Memorial Gardens area around 10:15 p.m., police observed a black Ford Taurus in the upper parking lot.

An officer said when he approached the vehicle with a flashlight, he spotted a clear plastic bag about two feet from the car that contained a substance that looked like cocaine. Inside the car, a bag was spotted on a floorboard that looked like it contained crack cocaine, he said.

The car was then searched and a digital scale was found in a glove box. The Ford was then towed.

The 11.5 grams of powder field tested positive for cocaine, the report said. The license plate on the Ford came back to an Orangeburg County man.

An alert Orangeburg man called deputies Monday after he was targeted by scammers, according to an OCSO incident report.

The man said he got a letter from a company saying he won $250,000. All he had to do to collect was cash an enclosed check and send them the money for "taxes," according to the report.

The man said he never plays the lottery nor would he cash the check.
