Family ups reward a year after shooting

It snowed, it rained. It was dreary that day.

Now, each snowflake takes her back to a day when it snowed, it rained. Another dreary day.

"When I get a snowy day, I think about him all day," Loretta Weber said from her home in New Jersey.

Today marks the first anniversary of the day Weber's brother, 47-year-old Billy Weber, was found murdered at his property.

"I think about him all the time," Weber said. "I still say he knew who did it. But he can't tell me."

Investigators searched for a suspect. They came up with clues but no arrests after the Cordova man was gunned down on property he owned on Breezehaven Road near North.

A month after he died, a $5,000 reward was offered for the arrest and conviction of the individual who is responsible for his death.

That has now been increased to $10,000.

Family members said Billy Weber, a car and motorcycle enthusiast, had problems with people stealing vehicles from the North property for years. They believe that on Feb. 22, Weber went by to check on his property before work.

When he didn't turn up at home for a family trip to the movies, police were called in.

"It's been a high-priority case for us," Orangeburg County Sheriff Larry Williams said. "We're still turning stones."

Williams said the investigation will continue, "so that we can give this family answers."

It snowed, it rained. Another dreary day today, a year later, as a family awaits an answer.

"It's not going to bring him back, but it would give some closure," Loretta Weber said. "The culprit wouldn't be loose to do it again."

If anyone has any information about the shooting, they are asked to contact the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office at 803-534-3550 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC.

" I pray that the killer will be turned in and brought to justice. Peace to the Weber family. "
