Wendy Brawley, cofounder, publisher and CEO of IMARA Woman magazine, a statewide lifestyle and personal-growth magazine for women of color, will be the guest speaker during Claflin University's fourth annual Hats and Gloves Tea on Tuesday, March 17.

The event will be held at 5 p.m. in Ministers' Hall and is one of the featured Women's History Month programs at Claflin. This year's honoree is Liz Zimmerman Keitt, a Claflin alumna and current president of the Claflin University International Alumni Association.

The event is open to all women. There is a $25 donation, which will benefit the Alice Carson Tisdale Fund for Student Needs established last year. Individuals interested in attending should RSVP to Yolanda Robinson at 803-353-5338 or yrobinson@claflin.edu.

Brawley, also the founder and president of Events Unlimited Inc., a conference planning and event management company in Columbia, is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and earned a master's degree in business management from Webster University.

She is a past Minority Small Business Person of the Year, awarded by the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on several community boards in the Midlands and is currently a member of the Board of Directors for South Carolina Community Bank, the state's only minority-owned bank.
