On March 3, the Tri-County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse held the final taping of its fourth season of "Health Factor." The face-off competition was held in Claflin University's production studio, with North Middle-High and Lockett Elementary schools competing for the title of Health Factor Champion 2008.

Lockett Elementary students won the title and received a trophy. Each team member also received an iPod Nano.

"Health Factor" is a health-based game show created to educate sixth graders about the effects of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs. This was Lockett Elementary's second consecutive win.

Other area schools participating in this season's "Health Factor" were Bethune-Bowman Middle-High, Elloree Elementary-Middle, Robert E. Howard Middle, William J. Clark Middle and Holly Hill-Roberts Middle schools. Each contestant was issued a list of questions that they were responsible for researching. "Health Factor" is taped live, allowing students the opportunity to explore a college campus while trying to win the "Health Factor" title by answering questions about substance abuse and its effects on the body.

"Health Factor" is produced in partnership with the Tri-County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Claflin University's Mass Communications Department and Time Warner Cable Co. New shows will begin airing at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, on Time Warner Cable Channel 7.
