SCSDB offers 'Thrills and Skills' at 2009 summer camps
Saturday, May 02, 2009SPARTANBURG -- "Thrills and Skills" will be the theme for the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind adventure-filled summer camps June 21-27.
The William W. All Adventure Camps provide children with opportunities to learn new skills while having fun and making new friends. The camps are available to South Carolina residents ages 6 to 14 who are blind/visually impaired or deaf/hard of hearing.
Camp for the blind activities include water park adventures, horseback riding, karate, Web page design, tandem bikes, goalball, team building, rock climbing and confidence-boosting games.
Camp for the deaf adventures include a ropes course, scuba, disc golf, field games, horseback riding, water park adventures, karate, sign language and team building.
Early registration is recommended, and free bus transportation is available to the camp. Registration is free, but participants should bring $35 for field trips and incidental expenses. Application deadline is June 1. The summer camps are funded in part by the Walker Foundation, the fund-raising arm of SCSDB.
