Rovonia Shaquawn Owens of Orangeburg, S.C. and Tywone Jermaine Hilliard of Santee, S.C., were united in marriage on April 4, 2009, at 4:00 p.m., at Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Orangeburg.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael (Barbara) Riley of Orangeburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Beatrice) Owens and Mr. Clarence Riley, all of Orangeburg.

The groom is the son of Mr.and Mrs. Joe (Edith) Hilliard. He is the grandson of the late Mrs. Mattie Bell Fersner of Orangeburg and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hollis (Eliza) Hilliard, Sr., of Santee.

Officiating the ceremony was Reverend Leroy Cain.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Maid of honor was Kayla Owens of Orangeburg, sister of the bride.

Matron of honor was Latoya Owens-Gilmore of Fort Lauderdale, FL, sister/soror of the bride.

Bridesmaid of honor was Tyronda Jamison of Columbia, S.C., friend of the bride.

Bridesmaids were LaQuine Bradley of Orangeburg, friend of the bride; Felixia Shuler of Orangeburg, cousin of the bride and Diandra Hilliard of Santee, soror/sister of the groom.

Junior bridesmaid was Jada Fersner of Orangeburg, cousin of the groom.

Miniature bride was Jasmine Owens of Orangeburg, daughter of the bride.

Miniature groom was Emmanuel Capers of Rock Hill, S.C., nephew of the groom.

Best men were Montez Hilliard of Santee, brother of groom and Anthony Hilliard of Orangeburg, cousin of groom.

Groomsmen were Alphonso Fersner, Jr. of Orangeburg, cousin of the groom; Andre Hilliard of Charleston, cousin of the groom; O’Keith Williams of Goose Creek, friend of the groom and Franklin Sheard of Santee, friend of the groom.

Junior groomsman was Javius Riley of Orangeburg, brother of bride.

Flower girls were Gabrielle Gilmore of Fort Lauderdale, niece of the bride; Journii Hilliard and Londyn Hilliard of Orangeburg, both daughters of the bride and groom.

Ring bearer was Ahmir Smith of Santee, nephew of the groom.

Bible carrier was DaShawn Dash of Columbia, friend of the bride.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in The Garden Room of the Cinema in Orangeburg.

After a wedding trip to Orlando, FL, the couple will reside in Orangeburg.

Mrs. Hilliard is a 2002 graduate of Claflin University with a Bachelors of Arts degree; a 2005 graduate of South Carolina State University with a Master of Arts and a Master of Education degree from South Carolina State University in 2008. She is currently employed at Claflin University as an Academic Counselor.Mrs. Hilliard is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Mr. Hilliard has a Conservatory Recording Arts and Science degree. He is currently self-employed.
