Shakespearean studies have taken on a new twist in Calhoun County High School English teacher LaVetra Sullivan's classroom. Her students have been conducting research on love, religion and culture during the time period in which William Shakespeare lived and are planning a wedding for one of his most famous, and tragic, couples -- Romeo and Juliet.

Students are preparing the guest list, a menu of food to be served, a scrapbook of outfits for guests to wear and a handmade wedding dress for Juliet. For the ceremony, students are selecting music for the wedding and reception, and games (complete with a rule book and equipment) for the reception.

Final group projects will be presented on Wednesday, May 27, in the CCHS auditorium.
