The Orangeburg High School class of 1959 held its 50th reunion the first weekend in May with 67 classmates attending.

On Friday night, classmates met for a drop-in at the home of Nancy and Harris Davis. On Saturday, classmates met at Antley's BBQ for lunch.

A buffet dinner was held at the Orangeburg Country Club on Saturday night, where class members, spouses and friends mingled and renewed old memories. Don Johnson, class president, officiated. Joe McComb read a poem in memory of deceased classmates followed by a moment of silence. Ellen "Butch" Easterlin read a hilarious, but tender, poem she composed about preparing for, attending and the aftermath of a class reunion. The band Smile, of which class member Al Watson is a member, preformed "If I Loved You" from the musical "Carousel," which was performed by the school in 1959, and other '50s favorites. The evening concluded with dancing the night away with DJ Jimmy Davis.

A breakfast was held at the Palmetto Restaurant on Sunday morning.

In addition to South Carolina, class members came from Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Delaware and New Hampshire.
